Sliding Into His Own DMs

"She really has embraced her new life as me," Fernando said to himself as he scrolled down through what used to be his former Instagram account. "It's almost as if I were looking at myself."

Just like many people around the world, Fernando was one of the countless affected by the still poorly understood phenomenon known as The Great Shift. In his case, he ended up swapping with Yeong-Ja, a young Korean woman roughly of his same age who lived in Seoul; i.e. on the other side of the Pacific Ocean since he was living in Los Angeles before The Great Shift occurred.

All of that had happened a bit more than a year and a half ago, so by this point, Fernando had pretty much come to terms with his new life as a young woman living in South Korea. From having found a secure job that paid the bills to having formed a tight group of Great Shift friends there as well, the impression he gave off to everyone around him was that he was just a woman who had lived in South Korea all her life. Really, the only two things that made it clear that he wasn't a local was his inability of speaking fluent Korean - something which he was already in the process of fixing - and his ability of speaking perfect Spanish instead.

It was then on an normal day like this one that he suddenly felt the curiosity to check on Instagram how Yeong-Ja was doing in his former body. Finding his former account was an easy task, and from the looks of it, it seemed like she was doing more than fine as him.

From what he saw on the many posts she had added since The Great Shift, not only had she seemingly embraced her new life as a Latino guy, but she had really embraced her new life as a man as well. Heck, she already had a girlfriend! Not even after a year and a half of living as a woman did Fernando have enough confidence to ask someone out on a date or start a relationship with someone else!

It was all in all, quite an interesting thing to see.

"Hmm..." Fernando hummed as an idea entered his mind. "I guess it could be quite fun seeing how she's doing."

It took him a few seconds to rally his courage after saying those words, but in the end, he decided to send her a friend request and send her a DM as well asking how she was doing.

"Hopefully this isn't too awkward," he finished as he then started to go on with his day as usual.

And as he awaited for her response, all he could do now was wait and see.
