Dating With A Résumé
"Hmm, let's see how many I got today," Laurence muttered to himself as he opened the dating app on his phone. And well, just like every single other time he had done so since downloading the app, he wasn't surprised at all by what he saw. "Twenty seven right swipes. Almost a new record."
With such a smug reaction, one would have reasonably supposed that Laurence was the typical case of a confident ladies' man who, after ending up in a woman's body thanks to The Great Shift, had jumped off the boat of masculinity, embraced his new body, and explored thoroughly all of the things that came with it such as seeing which dresses fitted best his stunning, female figure or which lipstick best complemented his smooth, freckled skin.
Well.
You'd be half right if this was exactly what you thought.
The part about having embraced life as a gorgeous woman was indeed true, but the part about him being a ladies' man before The Great Shift was completely wrong. In fact, most people who learned about who he was before he ended up in a woman's body were utterly shocked by his response.
You see, before The Great Shift, he was none other than a esteemed professor of Classics at the nearby university, with a full PhD under his belt and countless academic articles to his name. It was only after The Great Shift that he ended up in the body of a gorgeous Spanish woman visiting the city who looked more in place at a bar or at a beach rather than in an academic institution.
Yes, he was still teaching Ancient Greek poetry at the university.
Yes, he was still writing academic articles for various renowned journals.
And yes, he was still giving presentations at conferences both abroad and in the country.
It's just that whenever he wasn't doing anything related to academia, he was enjoying life to the fullest as the young, beautiful woman he now was.
That being said, with such a extensive résumé, dating was a bit more complicated than one would have expected. Getting guys to swipe right on his profile was incredibly easy, but finding guys who fitted his standards was a completely different story.
What then transpired was the all too common ritual of swiping left on every guy who wanted to date him for pretty much every reason.
"Not my type."
"Definitely just wants a one-night stand."
"That's a student in my undergrad class."
"Doesn't even have a profile picture."
He was about to finish for the day without a single match when suddenly, the last one made him stop right on his tracks
"Well, what do we have here..." he purred as he bit the the tip of his sunglasses with intrigue. "Just finished his doctorate, enjoys reading poetry, doesn't mind dating Shifted people, and to finish it all, has a nice body."
And with said, he swiped right.
