Not What We Planned

"Well, at least we're in younger bodies now," William (left) gasped in dejection as he looked at none other than his very own coffin. "We would be dead now if the ritual had been fake."

"Yeah, but we were supposed to end up possessing the bodies of our sons," Fernando (right) muttered with an aggressive tone as he looked at his coffin as well. "Not the bodies of our granddaughters."

For as long as they could remember, William and Fernando had been sworn enemies. For almost half a century, the two men had been the heads of the two biggest mafia families in the state of Arizona, always warring and competing with one another so as to make clear who was the strongest mafia boss. But after many years of conflict and with age finally catching up to them, the two old men decided to that it was time to end the feud they had and make peace with one another.

There was only one big problem to their plan. Even if they made the necessary negotiations so as to make peace between their two families before the two of them met their end, they had deal with the fact that their sons weren't exactly what one would call boss material. Whether it had been bad luck or divine punishment, their respective sons and heirs had grown into gullible men who preferred to revel, indulge, and quarrel needlessly instead of doing what was best for their families.

William and Fernando could do their best to tie all loose ends, but if their sons didn't change, then sooner or later, they would ruin they had done.

If only there existed a way to control them...

William was resigned about this, but Fernando was not. He remembered some stories he had heard back in Mexico when he was young about the existence of some ancient Aztec rituals that allowed one to permanently possess the bodies of anyone of your choosing. It was certainly quite an extreme measure, but if he had to take over his son's body to keep his family and business in a good position, then he was not going to hesitate. But again, there was another problem. Even if he did so, that still wouldn't solve anything because he didn't trust William's son to keep the peace with him.

Nonetheless, the solution was quite simple: let William know about his plan so that he could possess his own son and keep the peace with him.

And needless to say, William accepted the plan without much of a thought.

For the next few months, the two men used all of their connections and money to learn as much as they could about the rituals and gather all the necessary things to perform them. It took a lot of time and effort, but finally, after so much time, they were nearly ready to do one of the rituals which would supposedly let them take over their sons' bodies.

The only thing they needed was blood.

A lot of blood.

In fact, they needed a body worth of blood, one for each person that wanted to perform the ritual.

Both Williams and Fernando were more than comfortable with getting blood on their hands, but seeing that their time was soon approaching and that they didn't want other people to learn about what they were planning to do, the two of them ended up making the ultimate sacrifice in order to possess their very own sons and keep their two families stable and in peace.

Unfortunately, things didn't go exactly as planned.

Maybe it was because of some bad translation or a mispronounced utterance, but when William and Fernando woke up from their sleep, they were shocked when they found out that instead of waking up in the bodies of their own sons as they had originally planned, the two of them woke up in the bodies of none other than their granddaughters Sabrina and Jenna respectively.

Move forward a week later, and the new Sabrina and Jenna were just two of the many attendants who had gone to the funeral of their former selves, both of which had meet their deaths in very mysterious circumstances that the authorities were still trying to make sense of. Part of them was glad that they were alive and not inside the two coffins which were currently being buried in front of them, but unfortunately for them, they were now stuck in the bodies of two petite, young women who were pretty much powerless to stop their new fathers from ruining everything they had so laboriously built in the last five decades. And to their own dismay, the only thing they could really do was keep pretending that they were their granddaughters, and wait and see for any small chance they could find to take control, hopefully without getting themselves caught in the crossfire of whatever the new heads of their families ended up doing.
