The New-And-Improved Alison

"So how long have been friends with Kiara?" A guy asked Matthew after they had gotten to know each other for a bit during the party that Kiara had organized at her place.

"Oh, Kiara and I go back way back!" Matthew smiled as he slanted his head and struck a pose. "We've been besties since forever!"

In reality, Matthew just wanted to say that he had known Kiara all her life because he was in fact her father, but no matter how much he tried, whatever had caused him to swap bodies with her best friend Alison was also forcing him to respond in a way only Alison would do.

That had been none other than his entire life for a year now and counting.

He still had no clear idea how or why this had happened, but from what little he had been able to piece together from speaking with his own daughter/best friend and with Alison herself inside of his former body, Kiara had apparently wished for him to be less strict and for her best friend Alison to be more responsible.

This simple, unassuming wish was the only thing they knew about that could have possibly caused them to swap bodies, with him now in the body of a 23 year-old blonde and with Alison now in the body of a 58 year-old man and father.

Being in each other's bodies - bodies that were of a different sex and age group - was already quite a thing to digest, but unfortunately for them, the effects of the wish involved more than just swapping bodies.

It also affected their minds.

Not only did the wish force them to speak just as the other would have, but more alarmingly, it also scrambled their memories as well. All of a sudden, many of his memories were now replaced by those of Alison's while many of Alison's memories were replaced by his. Thus, in what almost seemed like a cruel joke, he had become the new-and-improved best friend of his daughter while Alison had become the new-and-improved father of her best friend.

Again.

This had been their life for a year already, and they still had absolutely no idea how to swap back to their former bodies.

Consequently, both Matthew and Alison were forced to pretend being each other not only because they were stuck in each other's body, but more importantly, because they were compelled to speak, think, and live as each other.

Even if they didn't want to.

"That's nice to hear," the guy responded. "So... wanna grab a drink and find a place where we can sit?"

Matthew really wanted to say no.

"Of course!" He said instead, just as Alison would have. "A party wouldn't be a party without something to drink!"
